How do you incorporate the couples' individual style in your photos?
This is so easy. The chemistry the couple shares clearly shows in the pictures. When we first meet the couple, we go over different styles of photography and get an idea of what interests them the most. Even though we work with different styles, we primarily use a photojournalistic approach.

We go over the preliminary schedule with all the couples

We go over the preliminary schedule with all the couples. This gives them an idea about the time we need for each photography session. I recommend a pre-shoot approximately 2 months before the wedding. This makes the couple familiar with the photography process and they can also display these shots at the wedding.

Farshi comes from the word farsh, meaning floor.

Farshi comes from the word farsh, meaning floor. When the word pajama is added it means a bottom-wear garment that falls on the floor generously. As one walks it trails, however, the wearer holds the dress carefully pulling up and folding the excess flaring trail and holding it in her left hand while keeping the right one free so that the dress does not trail. The farshi gharara was made with a large quantity of cloth that historically consisted of 9-15 yards of expensive fabric embroidered with gold and silver threads. This reflects the grandeur and extravagance of the nobles and rulers of that era

Lenghas began to replace saris as wedding wear

Lenghas began to replace saris as wedding wear. Some people choose to believe that saris are not elegant when in fact this is not true. Saris are very elegant and perfect for casual as well as formal and bridal wear. Many brides feel they cannot wear a sari for their wedding because it’s not as elaborate as the lengha. There are many elaborate saris these days and if you like to have the pallu hanging over your shoulder you can do that as well. Great news is dupatta saris are more and more common and popular these days and are especially perfect for bridal wear. You can have your sari and dupatta too! There is no need to choose or

specially perfect for bridal wear. You can have your sari and dupatta too! There is no need to choose or resort to a lengha. The beauty and grace of the sari combines with a beautiful matching dupatta. This way you don’t have to go in search for one. Rani Mukherjee was seen wearing a dupatta sari as a bride in Baabul. There are many ways to drape your sari if you will be wearing it with a dupatta. The most popular is the Gujarati drape. In this form, the pallu comes in the front and it is very practical to wear a dupatta with it. You can also drape your sari in the Bengali style. This is how Aishwarya Rai wore her famous blue dupatta sari in Devdas. You can also drape your sari in the common Nivi style if that’s what you are more comfortable with. On a last note, the lengha sari is a perfect choice for brides. It combines the beauty and grace of both elaborate outfits in one!

following the couple’s extravagant Dubai Sangeet, the bride had a sunny outdoor Mehndi ceremony at Jumeriah Beach in the bride’s parents’ backyard. The pictures by Farnaz K Studio transport you to this beautiful garden party!
So often we see big Mehendi parties in banquets halls with men, women and children. I love the old-school feel of this event. Just the bride surrounded by her sisters, aunts and other female relatives. Love, love, love the warmth of it!

Moroccan inspired wedding.

fter the stunning Sangeet and Mehendi in Dubai, we’re finally ready to share the grand finale of this love story.  On February 25th at Jumeriah Beach Hotel, our couple was married on the beach in a brilliant Moroccan inspired wedding.

There’s so much that can be said about the stunning images, the venue, and the décor. Award winning New York photographer, Farnaz, hit the ball out of the park on this one as she photographed the glamorous Hindu wedding on the white sand beach. While traditionally Moroccan styling makes use of darker colors, the décor for this wedding was toned down and mixed with pastel colors to fit in with the breezy surroundings.

We adore the draping of the mandap (perfect for a beach wedding), the bride’s doli entrance and the couple’s gorgeous attire. A stunning wedding this couple will never forget!

Brides to becongratulations on your upcoming wedding! W

Brides to be … congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Wedding planning is a fantastically challenging process and there are times of utter confusion when making certain decisions. Bridal makeup and hair styling is definitely one of them!

You love to be in the know of the latest makeup trends, follow tutorials on blogs and video sites, always stop by a makeup counter to try out a new launch, but you still feel like you are at a loss when it comes to your wedding day look.

While working with brides for over 15 years, one thing has always been consistent in my interaction with my North American brides. They want to look flawless and natural, but glamorous and not caked-up. Here are some guidelines on how to achieve this goal.

Don't attempt to do your own hair and makeup. The bride has an enormous amount of nervous energy during those last few hours leading up to the wedding.

2. Don't ask a best friend or aunty to do it either. Yes, your friend does an amazing job with makeup when you go out to party, but can she make it work for different lighting situations and for professional photography? Does she have an array of professional grade tools and products on hand to do emergency fixes for stress related acne that just showed up or really dark circles that reflect the sleepless nights of the week preceding the wedding

South Asian makeup, especially bridal makeup, is different because it needs to

South Asian makeup, especially bridal makeup, is different because it needs to be in order to compete with the lavish clothes and jewelry. Brides often ask why they cant have a natural look on their wedding day as Western brides do. Well, you can but it’s tricky. The key element here is that you don’t want your outfit and accessories to empower you so that you’re almost unnoticeable. Simple makeup doesn’t go with an over the top outfit and heavy jewelry. However, your makeup doesn’t have to exactly match your outfit. In fact, it should match your skin and more so yourself, your personality, and who you are. Your wedding day is not the right time to try something new and over the top that you’ve never done before and wouldn’t even normally think of doing. It’s important that you feel comfortable in your makeup. After all, your husband is marrying you and not someone else so why do you need to look like something you’re not.
